Twitter rants, anyone?
December 27, 2006 12:07 amI decided to give yet another “viral social” site a chance to win my undying loyalty :-) This time, the service that I’m giving a whirl is over at twitter.com. Twitter allows you to enter a short message (less than 150 characters) either via a form on the web or from your AIM/Gtalk/etc. It’ll automatically update your latest message in two places: your own twitter page (mine is over here at http://twitter.com/jarednevans) and on a twitter badge that you can post on your blog sidebar (see mine on the right side).
It’ll be interesting to be able to post short but public rants/updates on my blog in an instant via my pager, if I so choose. If my blog entries represents my mostly-complete thoughts, twitter would be my knee-jerk reactions.
Is there any useful utility that could come out of this testing or would it end up being one of the many lame ducks that I’ve tried out? My rule of thumb is if a website hasn’t provided valuable to me after a few weeks of usage, it gets discarded into the gigantic black hole of coooool-but-useless websites.
