Found a winner: Instapaper – Save things to read later
May 9, 2008 10:59 pmI’ve used Instapaper less than a day and I already have fell in love with it! It’s one of those rare web services that is an instant hit (unlike Twitter, which I’m still undecided on after 2 weeks of use).
Before Instapaper, when I load a webpage and I didn’t have the time to read it immediately but would like to read it later, I would either bookmark it on my browser or email myself the link.
The problem is that after I read most of these saved bookmarks, I don’t need them anymore.. I would have to manually go to my bookmarks or emails and delete it to keep everything tidy. My long-term bookmarks are only for the links that I visit on a frequent basis.
Instapaper is the perfect solution for these webpages that I only want to keep temporarily and toss aside once I am done reading. To say that the website design of Instapaper is uncluttered simplicity is an understatement in itself :-)
You drag the button
[image sample only] to your browser’s bookmark toolbar at the top. Once you land on a webpage that you want to save for reading later, you just click on “Read Later” on the toolbar. The URL of the page will be saved to your Instapaper account.
When you are ready to read the saved webpages, just go and visit your Instapaper account and click on the saved URLs. They will be automatically moved from your “Unread” list to your “Recently Read” list.
The best part of Instapaper: if you visit your Instapaper account on your mobile device, there is a barebones text version of the saved webpage that will quickly load without all the graphics! It’s perfect for catching up on your saved reading while on the go.
